Select Kitchener splash pads reopen gradually today, May 22
Late Friday afternoon, the Ontario government announced that splash pads are permitted to reopen beginning Saturday, May 22.
City staff are working as quickly as possible today, Saturday, May 22 to open the following splash pads:
- Breithaupt Park, 806 Union Street
- Centreville Chicopee, 141 Morgan Avenue
- Chandler Mowat, 222 Chandler Drive
- Doon Pioneer Park, 150 Pioneer Drive
- Kingsdale, 78 Wilson Avenue
Beginning Sunday, May 23, these splash pads will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. When visiting city splash pads, visitors are reminded that splash pads are unsupervised, and while they are checked regularly, staff will not be sanitizing all features and play areas. Visitors should follow posted signage, maintain physical distancing and wash or sanitize their hands after use.
The City expects to reopen additional splash pads at McLennan Park, Victoria Park and RBJ Schlegel Park next week.
