New round of “Name-a-Plow" opens

Over two winter seasons, the Kitchener community has helped name many of the City’s snow plows. You may have seen them patrolling the streets with their names and fun designs on their buckets. This winter, we’re doing it again to name seven more.

We have selected 12 of the most popular names from thousands suggested by residents. Now, we need your help selecting the winners. The finalists are:

  • Lederplowsen

  • Snowtis and Snowphelia

  • Sub Zero Hero

  • The Lean Mean Plowin’ Machine

  • The Snowbliterator

  • Blade Runner

  • Hippoplowtamus

  • Ka-plow

  • Lord of the Wing

  • Plowy McPlowface

  • Road Runner

  • The Abominable Snowman

Until February 6, cast your vote online at EngageWR.ca/SnowPlow2026. Starting the week of January 19, you can also submit a paper ballot in one of the ballot boxes at Kitchener City Hall or one of our 15 community centres. You’ll be asked to choose your favourite seven names from the list of finalists. The names with the most votes will be used to name City snow plows. The winning names will be announced in the spring and fun decals for each newly named plow will be revealed during Public Works Week in May.
