Kitchener’s LoveMyHood matching grant program celebrates neighbourhood leadership
The City of Kitchener announced seven new recipients of the 2026 LoveMyHood Matching Grant last evening, bringing the total funding awarded this year to more than $120,000 for resident-led neighbourhood projects.
“LoveMyHood reflects something we've long believed in here in Kitchener, strong neighbourhoods help build a strong city,” said Mayor Berry Vrbanovic. “These seven projects will help residents turn great community ideas into action and strengthen neighbourhood connections across Kitchener.”
The approved projects span multiple neighbourhoods and include placemaking, events, neighbourhood art, and greening initiatives led by youth, newcomers, parent councils, neighbourhood associations, and resident groups. Projects are conditionally approved, with city staff working alongside recipients to refine plans and support neighbourhood engagement prior to implementation.
Since launching in 2017, the LoveMyHood grant program has invested more than $1.6 million in over 230 resident-led events, programs, and capital projects in neighbourhoods across Kitchener. Through three intakes, the program awards up to $200,000 annually to support projects that strengthen community connections and community pride.
The third and final grant intake for 2026 is Thursday, October 29.
