Kitchener Golf will soon open ‘fore’ the season

It’s a sure sign of spring when the golf courses open for the season. Kitchener Golf’s ground crews have been busy preparing for several weeks, and the City of Kitchener is excited to announce that Rockway and Doon Valley Golf Courses will open next Friday, April 24 (weather permitting).

Doon Valley Golf Course, located in Doon along the Grand River, offers an 18-hole course, 9-hole course, a pitch-n-putt and driving range.

Rockway Golf Course, located in the heart of Kitchener, features an 18-hole, par 70 championship course.

Tee times can be booked up to 15 days in advance. To book a tee time, visit golfkitchener.ca

Disc Golf is coming to Doon

Later this spring, the Pitch-n-Putt course at Doon Valley will expand to include a 9-hole Aceplace Disc Golf Course. Course design will follow the existing Pitch-n-Putt course, use current tee areas, and ensure no interference with greens or regular golf play.

For those new to the sport, disc golf is played much like golf except that, instead of a ball and clubs, players use a flying disc. Like golf, the object is to complete each hole in the fewest strokes or, in the case of disc golf, fewest throws.

Once open for play, disc golfers can book a round of disc golf online. Pitch-n-Putt green fees will apply.

Junior Golf Camp

Kitchener Golf’s Junior Golf Camp offers golf, sports, games, competitions, prizes and adventure at Doon Valley Golf Course for kids aged 6 to 15 (two age divisions). No golf experience or equipment is required. Camp runs weekly from July 6 to August 28. To register, visit golfkitchener.ca
