Kitchener Fire recommends avoiding backyard fires during dry conditions

The Kitchener Fire Department is strongly recommending avoiding backyard fires or open burning of any kind until we receive substantial rainfall. With dry conditions prevailing, the risk of fire ignition and spread is heightened, and it is crucial that we take proactive measures to prevent any potential disasters.

In addition to avoiding open burning, the Kitchener Fire Department is encouraging residents to take the following precautions:

  • Check and remove combustibles around outdoor barbecues to prevent ignition and the rapid spread of fire, and
  • Responsible disposal of smoking articles

Residents are reminded to stay vigilant and prioritize fire safety measures especially during dry conditions.
