Kitchener Fire Department: Major incident report – Sunday, September 21, 2025

126 and 128 Mooregate Cres

Early Sunday morning, Kitchener Fire responded to a residential structure fire impacting two semi-detached homes on Mooregate Cres.

The fire was caused by careless disposal of smoking materials, and no foul play was involved. The damage is estimated at approximately $600,000 to both units. The Ontario Fire Marshall was called but declined to attend.

There were no staff or resident injuries.

29 Yellow Birch Dr

On Sunday evening, Kitchener Fire attended residential structure fires at a home on Yellow Birch Drive, caused by a lightning strike. Three separate fires occurred on the property, including the interior of the home, deck and shed. Damage estimates are unconfirmed at this time.

There were no staff or resident injuries.
