Kitchener Fire Department: Major incident report – May 31, 2026
Kitchener Fire crews responded to a residential structure fire on Ahrens Street West at 1:47 a.m. on Sunday, May 31.
The fire appears to have originated on the covered porch. All occupants were able to evacuate the home and were assessed by Waterloo Region EMS.
Four fire crews responded and there were no injuries sustained.
The cause of the fire is still being determined. Damage is estimated at approximately $400,000. A crew remains on scene to hold the property until an investigator arrives.
The Ontario Fire Marshal has not been contacted and is not involved in the investigation. Waterloo Regional Police is not assisting with the incident.
