Kitchener Fire Department: Major incident report – March 7, 2026

Earlier this morning, Kitchener Fire (KFD) responded to a two-storey garage/shed fire located at Vanier Drive in Kitchener. The call came in at approximately 4:40 a.m., and four fire trucks were dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, crews encountered an active fire within the structure and began suppression efforts.

There was one individual inside the building at the time of the fire. They were able to safely escape prior to fire crews’ arrival. The individual was assessed on scene by Paramedics for smoke inhalation and is not being transported to hospital. There are no reported injuries to firefighters.

The fire is not being treated as suspicious.

The garage/shed is expected to be a total loss. The structure has sustained significant damage.

Damage estimates are currently set at approximately $150,000 for the building and its contents.
