Kitchener Fire Department: Major incident report - March 23, 2026

This afternoon, Kitchener Fire crews responded to a call at a triplex on Guelph St, with reports of smoke coming from the attic roof area. Seven trucks attended the scene. 

Eight residents have been displaced and support has been provided. One civilian was taken to hospital as a precaution and there are no fire fighter injuries. 

The fire is not being treated as suspicious. Damage estimates are approximately $100,000 for the building and contents. There is structural damage to the roof rafters. 

Roadways around the area have now reopened.
