Kitchener Fire Department: Major incident report - June 24, 2026

On the night of June 23, Kitchener Fire Department crews responded to a vehicle fire in the driveway of a residential property on Coopershawk Street. On arrival, firefighters found a vehicle fully involved in the driveway, with fire spreading to the garage and causing significant damage to a second vehicle parked inside.

Firefighters quickly brought the fire under control and conducted a thorough inspection of the garage and adjacent areas of the home to confirm the fire had not extended to the structure. Minimal smoke had entered the home, which was ventilated and cleared.

All occupants had self-evacuated prior to Kitchener Fire arrival. There were no civilian or firefighter injuries.

Damage is estimated at $75,000, including damage to the two vehicles and the home.
