Kitchener Council welcomes Councillor Stephanie Stretch
Councillor swears oath of office at Kitchener Council ceremony
Ward 10 Councillor Stephanie Stretch swore her oath of office for Kitchener Council at a swearing-in ceremony earlier this evening.
"On behalf of myself and my Council colleagues, I want to warmly welcome Councillor Stretch to her new role where she will join our Council in implementing Kitchener’s new vision – Building a city for everyone, where, together, we take care of the world around us – and each other,” said Mayor Berry Vrbanovic. “Stephanie has long been passionate about her community and many of the priorities our Council is committed to. Through her oath of office this evening, we welcome Stephanie and her commitment to serving her constituents with integrity and enthusiasm.”
On Jan. 8, Kitchener Council approved an appointment to fill the vacant seat in Ward 10. Stretch was the Ward 10 runner-up in the 2022 Municipal Election.
"I am honoured to serve as a member of Kitchener Council," said Ward 10 Councillor Stretch. “I am fully committed to this role and look forward to serving Ward 10 residents and the the City of Kitchener with my full attention.”
The Ward 10 seat became vacant after former City Councillor, Aislinn Clancy, was elected to Provincial Parliament in December 2023.
