City’s community grant applications are now open

Community organizations that work for the common good of Kitchener residents may be eligible for a community grant to support their work.

Each year, the City of Kitchener offers funding through community grants, to eligible new and emerging not-for-profit organizations and community groups in Kitchener to support festivals, special events, projects, and programs. Applications are now open and interested groups are advised to start early to allow time to ask questions and provide a fulsome grant submission. A video to help guide organizations through the application process is available here.

The community grant program provides financial support to community organizations that offer programs and events in the areas of:

  • arts and culture,
  • special events,
  • community support and development, and
  • minor sports and recreation.

Community groups can apply for funding to assist with operating costs and projects, special events, and equipment support. To be eligible, a group must meet 12 criteria and must address the assessment areas of community need, organizational need and capacity, partnership support, and financial analysis.

A staff and peer review committee will review and assess the grant applications.

The deadline for application for the 2024 community grant program is Monday, Dec. 11 at 5 p.m.
