City of Kitchener lifts temporary fire ban

Due to recent rainfall and cooler temperatures, the City of Kitchener will lift its temporary fire ban as of 4 p.m. today, Wednesday August 20, 2025.

We remind residents to follow these guidelines to keep backyard fires safe:

  • Closely monitor your fire and extinguish it when you’re finished
  • Always have a water source like a hose or pail near by
  • Only burn bush material, including tree limbs, branches or logs made for fireplaces
  • Keep fires 5 metres away from fences, structures, hedges etc.
