City of Kitchener celebrates Culture Days with two weeks of free arts and culture experiences

The City of Kitchener is inviting residents and visitors to explore, create and connect through two weeks of concerts, performances, art demonstrations and hands-on activities during Culture Days 2026. This province-wide celebration of arts, culture and heritage is  running from September 18 to October 4, wrapping up a summer of events that has celebrated arts and entertainment through the launch of Kitchener LIVE and welcomed over 100,000 residents and visitors to a season of celebration. Throughout the festival, Kitchener will be home to dozens of free experiences led by the City and local arts and cultural organizations, showcasing the creativity and talent that make the community unique. 

“Kitchener’s investments in arts and culture helps build a vibrant, welcoming community where people can connect, share experiences, and celebrate the diversity that makes Kitchener special, and builds a sense of belonging amongst residents and visitors alike,” said Mayor Berry Vrbanovic. “Culture Days is an opportunity to experience the creativity that exists in every corner of our city while supporting the Canadian artists, organizations and cultural leaders who enrich community life year-round.”  

The festival features a wide range of activities offered by local arts and cultural organizations, including artist talks and walks, exhibitions, workshops, heritage experiences, public art events, live music and more.  

As part of the celebration, the City of Kitchener will host a special weekend of programming from September 25 to 27, featuring live music, visual arts and opportunities to connect directly with local artists. Highlights include: 

Friday, September 25 – A Culture Days kickoff at Kitchener City Hall featuring a free concert with country music performers Amanda & James and violin prodigy Chris Clark, along with artist talks from two local artists to open their exhibits in the Berlin Tower ARTSPACE and Rotunda Gallery. 

Saturday, September 26 – A series of pop-up performances across downtown, including a Beatles-inspired rooftop concert at the Kitchener Market and opera performances at Kitchener City Hall. Visitors can also enjoy the Gaukel Block Arts Festival, featuring live mural painting and music featuring Evan Redsky and Mandippal. 

Sunday, September 27 – An open house and block party at 44 Gaukel, where visitors can tour artist studios, meet local creatives and take part in interactive arts experiences. 

Throughout the two-week celebration, there are even more art demonstrations, performances and activities hosted by local arts organizations throughout the city, with something happening every day from September 18 to October 4. 

“Culture Days gives artists the opportunity to share their work, spark imagination and invite people into the creative process,” said Andrea Hallam, Manager of Arts and Creative Industries for the City of Kitchener. “Whether you're discovering a new musician, meeting a visual artist in their studio or trying a hands-on creative activity, these experiences help people see the world in new ways and deepen appreciation for the arts in our community.”
