Breithaupt Centre Pool summer closure

As part of our ongoing efforts to proactively maintain City facilities, upcoming work this summer will affect operations at the Breithaupt Centre, specifically the 25-yard pool. Starting June 13, the 25-yard pool will be closed due to necessary work to replace a part of the roof membrane and insulation, along with air duct work. This project will be especially complex, since rooftop HVAC units will need to be removed, stored and then re-installed. We expect that this will be completed by the end of August. During this time the warm water pool will remain open.

It is unfortunate that this will cause another disruption to our operations, however, it is necessary to avoid the risk of a leak, which could result in damage that would be even more difficult to repair. This work has been timed so that the closure of the Breithaupt Centre 25-yard pool will coincide with the opening of outdoor city pools. The closure does mean a shorter spring session for the next round of program registration, which begins Tuesday, April 19.

We expect that some other work will be necessary to replace the boiler, which may also cause a disruption.
