Media Room
The City of Kitchener is committed to supporting local media. We work closely with outlets to share accurate and timely information about the City policies, programs, services, issues and decisions that impact our community. We develop and maintain professional relationships with media that serve to inform our community of City news and priorities.
The Corporate Communications and Marketing team is the contact for journalists seeking comment from the City. We are available via media@kitchener.ca Monday to Friday from approximately 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and weekends and holidays for urgent inquiries only.
Responses
We aim to respond to most queries within 48 hours.
Requests for large volumes of detailed or technical data and information subject to legal review and privacy legislation may take longer to compile.
The City prioritizes inquiries from journalists who:

identify themselves and any affiliation they may have with print, broadcast, or online media

provide detailed and clear information requests

conduct themselves in a manner consistent with the Canadian Association of Journalists’ Principles for Ethical Journalism and Ethics Guidelines
