McLennan Park

Anyone who believes a former landfill can't be transformed into a beautiful gathering space has never been to McLennan Park.

Located on Ottawa Street South, this 96-acre park, which sits atop a former regional landfill site, offers a variety of amenities and fun features, including :

  • An accessible play-structure and splash pad
  • Beach volleyball and basketball courts
  • A BMX bike park and skatepark
  • A leash-free dog park and picnic shelter
  • The dog park may be closed for maintenance at times. Signs with details will be posted at the park.
  • Pedestrian trails
  • A toboggan hill
  • A spacious lawn area
  • Washroom building

Last year, the great lawn, splash pad, sports courts and parts of the playground were closed to conduct repairs to the clay cap and lawn. While the work was completed last fall, the grass seed did not have time to germinate before winter. As a result, the great lawn will remain closed until later this summer to ensure a healthy lawn has time to take root. Residents are asked to stay off the lawn to avoid damaging the new grass.

Staff is working with the contractors to move the construction fencing back to open up access to all the amenities except the lawn. As of June 15, we're excited to say that the splash pad is now open!

Renting our sports courts

The volleyball and basketball courts can be booked for special events. Both facilities typically operate on a first-come, first-served basis; reserving them will ensure you can use them on a specific date and time. The cost to rent each court is $27.39 per hour (plus tax).
