Community centres will close Dec. 26

Some community centres will remain open for emergency social services such as food distribution, warming centres, addiction support and public access computers. 

The Province has announced a provincewide shutdown beginning on Saturday, Dec. 26 at 12:01 a.m. Please only leave your home for essential trips, only gather with those in your household and stay connected with friends and family virtually. Read more. 

Kingsdale Community Centre has reopened for select registered programs. 

Kingsdale Community Centre is located at 72 Wilson Avenue. Our 16,500 square foot facility is fully accessible with five spacious program rooms, a large gymnasium with vaulted wood ceilings and an adjoining commercial kitchen and bar area. Our centre is equipped to offer a wide range of programs and activities.

All programming, including drop-in programming now requires registration. To register for programs, please visit ACTIVE Net.

Safety measures 
Residents can expect a different experience when visiting as the following safety measures remain in effect. The following safety procedures are in place for staff and public safety:
  • Access control: Public access will be controlled and limited to patrons who are registered for programs or have scheduled activities such as the use of public access computers or use of the gymnasium through the Book your Bubble program. Visitors are asked to come prepared to participate in scheduled programming as access to change rooms will be unavailable.
  • Pre-screening questions: Visitors will be required to successfully complete a series of health screening questions prior to entry.
  • Masks and face coverings: Visitors are required to wear masks upon entry and while in common areas such as lobbies, hallways or washrooms.
  • Physical distancing: Visitors are always required to maintain a physical distance of at least 2-meters from other patrons.

Residents are asked to come prepared to participate in scheduled programming as access to washrooms and change rooms will be unavailable.

 KNA Programs

The KNA runs the following types of programs at the centre:

  • Fitness programs
  • Children's dance and sports
  • Educational programs
  • Special events 
  • Recreation and leisure programs for all ages

Drop-in Programs:

  • Pickleball Drop-in runs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. $2 per play. See KNA newsletter for dates, times and cancellations. Currently not available.
  • Indoor Bocce runs on Thursday. 50 cents per play. Currently not available.

 Partner Programs

We partner with the House of Friendship to offer the following services at our centre:

  • Support for families with children
  • Social and educational programs
  • Community Food Distribution Program:

Kingsdale Community Food Program is an appointment based food distribution for families in need to receive fresh produce, non-perishable goods and other foods as available once every two weeks. Patrons are served individually in the Food Room. New clients must book an appointment for intake. Appointment times are:

Tuesday 6:30-8 p.m.

Wednesday 10 a.m.-3 p.m.

Thursday 11 a.m.-4 p.m.

 

Please Note: Change of Community Food Program during Covid will be every Wednesday 10am-12:30pm situated in the gym. Access is via the side entrance of the Community Centre.

Public access computers will be available at Kingsdale Community Centre beginning July 27. Computers can be reserved for up to 45 minutes per person each day. Book a reservation online or by calling Kingsdale Community Centre at 519-741-2540.

Drop-ins without a reservation will be accommodated on a first come, first served basis if computers are available.

Important dates

Please note: Our new online registration program - ACTIVE Net - is now up and running. To register for a program, you'll need to activate your existing account or create a new account. Visit our ACTIVE Net page to learn how.

  • Registration for Fall programs are not currently available online or in person and will update this information as and when we have programs available.

Rentals

Kingsdale Community Centre is available to rent for meetings and special events. The centre is fully accessible and conveniently located within close walking distance of public transit. Visit Grand River Transit for route information and schedules.

 

NEW - Need space to plan a neighbourhood project or get together with a hobby group? Book a room at Kingsdale! Room 2 is free to book for groups of 20 participants or less (conditions apply). Book space online or at the front desk.  Please note: Unfortunately we are not able to offer this as available space.

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. 

Thursday 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Saturday: closed

Sunday: closed

 

The centre may be available for rent outside of regular operating hours.
