Select community centres set to open

Select community centres are set to reopen for limited use by the end of June to provide food distribution programs, cooling centre locations and summer camps. Read more.

Parks, trails, Kitchener Golf, Kitchener Market Saturday Farmers' Market and most outdoor facilities are open. Learn more about what's open and closed.

The majority of city-run facilities, playgrounds, splash pads and pools currently remain closed.

Located next to a park at 100 Rittenhouse Rd., Country Hills Community Centre has been a gathering place for the surrounding community since 1997. 

The centre features a double gymnasium, an outdoor sports pad and accessible playground, and three meeting rooms that are equipped to offer a variety of programs and activities.


CHRA programming

Visit Active Net to create your login information; then, register for the programs you're interested in online. Or, visit the centre to create your account and register in person. You may be asked for Photo ID when registering for activities in person.

Community partners programming

The Country Hills Community Centre and the CHRA partner with local organizations to provide programs and information to our community. All programs and information sessions are free to attend (unless otherwise noted) and take place at our Community Centre.


Zero Waste Workshop: $12

Join us for a Zero Waste Workshop Apr. 25 - 11 a.m.-12:15 p.m.  

This is a make and take workshop! Come and learn how to reduce your waste whether at home, work or play! We will provide some simple steps to create low waste, environmentally friendly products to use around your house. As a take away you will create a reusable beeswax wrap and a couple of other environmentally friendly products to start your journey towards reducing waste.

Newsletter editor/publisher volunteer opportunity available

The Alpine Community Neighbourhood Association (ACNA) serves the area bound by Block Line Road, Homer Watson Boulevard, Strasburg Road and Ottawa Street.

The ACNA is looking for a volunteer who can create content and format a neighbourhood association newsletter. Our newsletters are about six pages and distributed up to four times a year - in March, May, September and December. Please contact the Country Hills Community Centre for more information.


Country Hills Recreation Association volunteer opportunities

Are you looking for an opportunity to gain employable skills and put your knowledge and experience to work? The Country Hills Recreation Association (CHRA) is looking for volunteers in the following areas:

  • Special events team
  • Website/social media team
  • Assisting in children/youth recreational programming (specific to a student looking for community service hours)

Spring 2020 Registration: The Spring 2020 Session runs April - June, registration opens Feb. 25 at 8:30 a.m.


Summer Camp Registration: Summer camps are open for registration! come by the centre, go online to Activenet or give us a call to register your child now.

The centre features a 4,800 square-foot multipurpose room with a fully accessible stage, making the space suitable for many types of events. With the ability to accommodate up to 300 people, the facility also has three smaller meeting rooms, and full kitchen and bar facilities suitable for cooking and serving. The centre offers plenty of free parking.


NEW - Need space to plan a neighbourhood project or get together with a hobby group? Book a room at Country Hills! Room 2 is free to book for groups of 20 participants or less. Book space online or at the front desk.

Centre hours

Centre hours for fall, winter and spring (Sept. 3 - June 30):

Monday to Friday, from 9 a.m. - 9 p.m.

Saturday, from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.

The centre is closed Sundays, but is available for rentals.
