Bridgeport Community Centre, located at 20 Tyson Dr., has been a gathering place for the surrounding community since 1970. 

Located  next to the Grand River and the Walter Bean Trail, and tucked in beside Tyson Park, the centre is home to one of the largest community ice rinks in the city, and features a multipurpose room and two meeting rooms that are equipped to offer a variety of programs and activities.

Centre hours

Bridgeport Community Centre is open:

  • Monday to Thursday, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Friday, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Sunday, closed.

However, the centre is available for private events outside of regular hours. Please call or email us for rental information.

Important news

Program registration now available online

You can now register for your favourite programs at Bridgeport Community Centre from the comfort of your own home through Active Net.

To register online, you will need:

  • Your individual ID codes and family PIN number. If you don't have a family PIN to register online, get one either online, by phone or by dropping by the centre;
  • A Visa or Mastercard credit card with a valid expiry date;
  • The latest copy of Active Kitchener, where you will find the barcode you need to register for a program.
  • Please remember to print and sign your program waiver, and bring the form to your first program session.

Of course, you're still welcome to drop by the centre to register; we accept payment by cash, cheque, debit or credit card.

Bridgeport Community Association runs programming at the facility, including:

  • Fitness programs
  • Children's arts and crafts programs
  • One day workshops
  • Special interest programs
  • Recreation and leisure programs for all ages

City programs

  • Registration for spring programming is available online or in person and program information can be found in the latest edition of Active Kitchener.

Drop-in programs

Our regular free drop in programs are as follows:

  • Parent and Tot Drop-In - Wednesdays and Thursdays 9:30-11:30 a.m. (September to the end of June)
  • Euchre Card Group - Wednesdays at 1-3:30 p.m. (September 13 to the end of June)
  • Bid Euchre - Thursdays 1-3:30 p.m. (September 14 to the end of June)
  • Men's Coffee Group - Every other Thursday at 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. (monetary donations collected to fundraise for community events)

Community partners' programming

The Bridgeport Community Centre is proud to partner with local organizations to provide programs and information to our community.  All programs and information sessions are free to attend and are located at the centre.

  • Community Support Connections, WALC Fitness Program - A gentle fitness class for seniors occurring on Tuesdays and Fridays at 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. (September to June);
  • Get Ready For School, StrongStart - program for children three years old;
  • Life With a Baby, Sensory Tuesdays - Join us for a fun morning of sensory and play and exploration!  Visit Sensory Tuesdays website for dates. Please register through Life with a Baby, space is limited. This program for parent and tot is brought to you by Life With a Baby, a peer support system that provides programs for parent and kids up to age six;
  • Bridgeport Lions Club, members' meeting - Second and fourth Tuesday of the month from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.;
  • Girl Guides of Canada, Brownies Unit - Every Tuesday during the school year.

Bridgeport Community Centre is the perfect place to hold your next meeting or special event.

We offer two smaller meeting-type rooms, both equipped with small kitchenettes; and a larger banquet room with a spacious kitchen and separate bar area that can accommodate up to 200 people.

The centre is fully accessible and located within walking distance of public transit and the Grand River.
