Headshot of Mayor Vrbanovic

Mayor Berry Vrbanovic has been a long-standing member of Kitchener city council. He served as Ward 2 city councillor for two decades before you elected him as your mayor in 2014. He is the highest ranking elected official for our city, with one vote on council and the responsibility to officially represent the council.

In addition to providing leadership to the rest of council and our city, the mayor acts as our official representative within several other organizations, including:

By serving as a member of these groups, the mayor is helping to address important issues at the local, provincial and federal levels. Inaugural address

Each new term of Kitchener city council begins with the inaugural council meeting, when our newly elected officials are sworn in and officially begin representing their constituents for the next four years.

The mayor provides an inaugural address to set the tone for the term, outlining both challenges and opportunities council and the city will address together. Read the transcript from Mayor Berry Vrbanovic's address, delivered Dec. 1, 2014.
