There's no better way to truly explore every corner of our city than by walking, jogging or cycling through our community trails.

Kitchener offers more than 125 km. of trails - all strategically placed to provide continuous and linked walking and cycling routes throughout our city. Some of our most popular trails include:

  • The Iron Horse Trail, which runs 5.5 km. between Ottawa Street in Kitchener and Erb Street West in Waterloo, providing a scenic and historic route linking the two cities. The Iron Horse Trail is part of the Trans Canada Trail.
  • The Walter Bean Grand River Trail, which runs through Waterloo, Kitchener, Cambridge, Woolwich and North Dumfries townships. The trail allows you to explore more than 25 per cent of the Grand River's 290-kilometre watershed.

Over the next year, city staff and our team of consultants will be reaching out all across the city to hear from people about how we can make Kitchener a great place to walk and bike. Learn more about our new Cycling & Trails Master Plan.
