NEW skatepark in Upper Canada Park

The City of Kitchener is building a new skatepark at Upper Canada Park (corner of Pioneer Drive and Homer Watson Boulevard) in 2018, and we have scheduled workshops so we can hear from residents and park users about what they'd like to see in the design.

Please come out to our first workshop and help inspire the ultimate skatepark for Upper Canada Park!

Workshop #1: vision & brainstorming

  • Date:         January 16, 2018
  • Location:  Budd Park - Indoor Facility (lounge area), 1111 Homer Watson Blvd.
  • Time:         7-9 p.m.

Permanent skateparks

Based on feedback we received from some of our most passionate skatepark users, we've installed permanent skateparks at the following locations across the community:

The Aud - 400 East Ave.

The Aud skatepark features include a concrete pad, a bowl, a double camel's hump, a quarter pipe with a rail, a ramp with a grinding rail, a pyramid and a horizontal grinding rail.

Open to all ages, the park can be used year round, depending on weather conditions, from 9 a.m. to dusk. However, the park is not supervised; use is at your own risk.

A telephone and washrooms are available inside The Aud.

Fischer Park - Fischer-Hallman Road, at Queen St. S.

Skatepark features include a street course, and 9-foot deep bowl for skateboards, BMX bikes and scooters.

Open to all ages, the park can be used year round, depending on weather conditions, from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. However, the park is not supervised; use is at your own risk.

A telephone and washrooms are available inside Forest Heights pool and the Forest Heights branch of the Kitchener Public Library.

McLennan Park - 901 Ottawa St. S.

Skatepark features include a street course and a concrete bowl.

Open to all ages, the park can be used year round, depending on weather conditions. However, the park is not supervised; use is at your own risk.

A telephone and washrooms are available at the park.

Doon Skatium mobile skatepark

Our mobile skatepark features nine ramps, including a five-foot quarter pipe, pipe ramp, a three-piece fly-over box, two two-foot kicker ramps, one grind box and two grind rails.

Helmets are mandatory when using the skatepark - we have extra helmets, if required. Loaner skateboards are also available.

Our pick-up-and-go skatepark travels to different community centres, as part of our Doon mobile youth outreach program. Our goal is to provide access and fun to boarders in several areas of our city every Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, from 5 to 8 p.m., weather permitting.

Doon Skatium is also available for weekend rental for community events. For more information, please contact us at 519-741-2200, ext. 7603.
