Lyle S. Hallman walking track


NOTICE: The walking track will be closed on the following dates:

  • Friday, April 19 - Saturday, April 20
  • Friday, April 26 - Sunday, April 28
  • Wednesday, May 1 - Sunday, May 5

The Lyle S. Hallman Foundation indoor track offers walkers, joggers and runners a safe place to lace up and get some exercise all year-round.

Located above the Kitchener Minor Hockey Association (KMHA) Alumni ice pad at the Activa Sportsplex, the track open to everyone - free of charge - every day, from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Guidelines for users

To help ensure all track users enjoy their experience, we enforce the following guidelines for everyone to follow when visiting our indoor track.


  • Wear proper footwear, including running shoes or approved walking shoes.
  • Do not wear street shoes, spikes, inline skates, flip-flops, clogs, socks or bare feet.
  • Be considerate to all users. The track is shared by walkers, joggers, and runners.
  • Move safely at all times and travel in the same direction.
  • Exercise caution when passing.
  • Do not travel in groups larger than two people across.
  • Allow faster moving track users the ability to pass in the outside lanes.
  • Stay on the inside track if you have a stroller. If you're traveling in a group, please stay in a single-file line.
  • Leave food and beverages outside of the track area. Water is permitted in the track area but spitting water is not permitted.
  • Leave exercise apparatus outside the track area. This includes but is not limited to skipping ropes, medicine balls, floor mats, etc.
  • Refrain from wearing perfumes, and colognes.

Other track rules include:

  • Children under age 13 must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Teams using the track must have an adult coach or manager present at all times.
  • Music selection is at the discretion of City of Kitchener staff.
  • Lockers are available for daily use. No overnight storage is available. You must provide your own lock. The City of Kitchener is not responsible for any lost or stolen items.
  • The track is for recreational use only and private programming is not permitted.
  • Spectators are not permitted on the track at any time.
