This season we won’t be producing our Active Kitchener magazine, but you can find lots of fun things to keep active (and safe) right here!

We're committed to keeping you connected and active with free activities, events and resources.

Community centres

In-person registered programs are back! Space is also available at city community centres for you to book for free to enjoy your own planned activities.

Book a gym: residents can pre-book time to use a community centre gym for physical activity. Booking gym time is FREE and bookings for each 45-minute time slot can be made online, in-person or by calling the centre.

Book a community room: residents can pre-book a multi-purpose room at City community centres during business hours for up to two hours to host a meeting or enjoy a group activity.

Pools and splashpads 

This summer, come to one of our indoor or outdoor pools or a splashpad to keep cool! We have something for all ages, ability levels and schedules. Pay as you go or register for an ongoing swim program.

At City of Kitchener camps, we mix playing with growing, belonging and quality programs.

Camp registration is open. Spots fill up quickly so register now. You can register for summer camps online on ActiveNet, by calling 519-741-2200, ext. 2907 or in person at your local community centre.

Trails and parks
Kitchener has over 125 kilometers of trails and many parks, natural areas and outdoor spaces. Find a trail or a park near you.

 Walking tours

Kitchener is a vibrant community filled with history and charm. What better way to discover it, than by foot! Here are some self-guided walking tours you can do on your own or with your own household this winter.

Children and youth programs

Register your child or encourage your teen to participate in programs that can help them be active and creative. All of our programs focus on building gratitude, hope, empathy and belonging in a super fun, supportive environment with first-aid certified and trained camp and youth program staff.

Programs include:

  • Sports, arts, crafts, cooking
  • Leadership development with volunteering opportunities
  • Employment readiness support
  • March Break camp
  • Summer camp
  • Summer youth drop-ins and specialty programs
  • Summer mobile skateboard park
  • Space for youth to be together in a safe and supervised environment with fun activities

Seniors programs and activities

Stay connected while safely participating in our virtual and in person programs that are available at a number of community centres. Programs include:

  • Kitchener Connections - free weekday programs via phone
  • Social Support Calls - support for those feeling isolated, or just want to talk
  • Connected @ Home Program - receive activity boxes, join weekly teleconferences or Zoom group activities
  • Kitchener Tech Connects - Free Technology Training and Lending Library
  • Fitness and wellness programs - virtual and in-person classes including fitness, art, yoga, meditation and many others suited for all ages and abilities

If you or your child has a disability and require one to one support to participate in any of our programs, we will do our best to accommodate you.  Kitchener Market classes and events

Join staff and local chefs at the Kitchener Market this season for cooking classes, programs and events.
