Apply for a permit

You can apply for a parking permit to park in one of the parking lots or garages with available spots.

We collect a $50 deposit for your transponder/permit and refund it when you cancel your monthly permit.


Permits and transponders

Depending on your parking location, you will get either a permit or a transponder.

Before your parking start date, you will need to pick up your permit or transponder from our parking division on the fifth floor of City Hall. After we approve your request for a monthly parking permit, we will ask you to book an appointment to pick up your permit or transponder.


Monthly payment options

You can pay your monthly parking fee using one of the options below. Please make cheques payable to the City of Kitchener.

Internet or phone banking

  • most banks offer bill payment through online or phone banking

Pay with credit card

You can pay your bill by credit card or debit card online or by phone through Paymentus, a third-party bill payment service:

We accept Visa and Mastercard. Paymentus charges a convenience fee for each transaction of 1.75% of your total payment.

Please allow at least four business days for processing.

Banking machines or tellers

  • most chartered banks in KW offer bill payment through banking machines or tellers
  • please check that your bank offers this service and allow at least five business days for processing
