The City of Kitchener, in collaboration with the Waterloo Region Small Business Centre (WRSBC), hosts a monthly speaker series, called SDG Talks. The monthly event explores the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and how we, as individuals, can help create a more socially and environmentally sustainable planet. The overarching theme of the series is business as a force for good.

This month’s SDG Talk will explore sustainable cities and communities; sustainable development goal number 11. We will discuss what we can do to build more sustainable cities and communities and will be joined by:

  • Anna Marie Cipriani, corporate sustainability officer, City of Kitchener
  • Ena Ristic, senior sustainability officer, City of Waterloo
  • Julianna Van Adrichem, environmental marketing strategist, Promosaurus

Sustainable communities are not only green - they are also inclusive, safe, and affordable. This conversation will cover what our cities are doing right and where they can improve to reach the goal of creating sustainable cities built for everyone.

This event will take place on Tuesday, June 20 from 5:30 - 8:30 p.m. at the new SDG Idea Factory, 2 King St. W. Join us for an evening of engaging conversation to raise awareness and accountability for the sustainable development goals, networking, and light refreshments. To register for this session, visit SDGSpeakerSeries.eventbrite.ca.

Over the next year, the City of Kitchener and community partners will invite speakers to present topics related to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals as part of a series of seventeen sessions. Topics for future sessions will be announced closer to the session dates.
