Waterloo Region – Today the Province of Ontario announced it is imposing a Province-wide Shutdown at 12:01 a.m. on Saturday, December 26 2020.

“Community transmission of COVID-19 is widespread and our health care system is under very heavy strain,” said Dr. Hsiu-Li Wang, Region of Waterloo’s Medical Officer of Health.

“The situation is unsustainable. Stronger measures are necessary at this time, to protect our residents and the health care system’s ability to care for everyone in our community.

“Shutdown will be very difficult and will present hardships for our community, especially through the holiday season. Please stay connected virtually and be mindful of feelings of isolation. If you or someone you know needs help, remember that local mental health support is available.”
