Pack up your picnic basket, grab your lawn chair, and get ready for a summer of great local music at the City of Kitchener’s brand-new Roos Island Music Series! The inaugural season kicks off on Sunday, July 7 and will host 18 free live performances from musicians across our region until August 29.
“Kitchener is home to a community of incredible local artists, and I can’t wait for everyone to experience some of that amazing local talent live in Victoria Park this summer,” said Kitchener Mayor Berry Vrbanovic. “Creating space for up-and-coming artists to build their experience will not only help grow our local music scene – it will also provide another opportunity for us to support our local musicians.”
The music series will take place in the Rotary Bandstand on Roos Island in Victoria Park. The bandstand was recently renovated through a generous donation from the Kitchener Rotary Club, with upgrades to the exterior, landscaping, and electrical system, along with a new accessible pathway and seating.
The schedule for the music series includes singer-songwriters, small groups, a full concert band and more. With performances on both weekdays and weekends in the afternoons and evenings, there will be many opportunities to enjoy summer.
“This series will be a wonderful asset to the park and adds to the vibrant arts culture that already exists downtown,” said Councillor Debbie Chapman. “I’m excited to take in some of the live concerts myself this summer. We’ll see you there.”
This free performance series is family-friendly and open for all to enjoy. Whether you plan a date night, an afternoon out with friends, a trip with the family, or a solo visit, the Roos Island Music Series is something you won’t want to miss this summer.
