Large gatherings and events likely will not be permitted again this summer, so the City of Kitchener is rethinking its signature summer events. Many will return in a new format – both virtual and safely in person. Pending provincial restrictions, smaller and more mobile neighborhood events in Kitchener will keep residents connected, while also ensuring safety protocols and gathering limits are followed.
“I know the past 14 months and the most recent stay-at-home order has been tough on all of us. That’s why we’re doing our best to bring summer entertainment and activities to residents across Kitchener in a safe and fun way,” said Mayor Berry Vrbanovic. “If provincial government restrictions allow, we will be offering many options like pop-up neighbourhood concerts, micro-events and park activities throughout our community for the whole family.”
Some city-run and third-party events will also move online, while others have been cancelled for this summer.
