There is nothing quite like a city in bloom! Everyday spaces transform into spectacular gardens in balcony boxes, pollinator patches, flower beds, planters, community gardens and rain gardens.
Each year, the city’s Kitchener in Bloom program proudly recognizes the efforts of residents who make Kitchener a greener, more vibrant and sustainable place to live. The program is a fantastic way to recognize the dedication and hard work residents put into their gardens, and to show our appreciation.
Residents are encouraged to recognize a garden in their neighbourhood by submitting the address of the garden through an online form at www.kitchener.ca/bloom, or by calling 519-741-2200 ext. 7537. It’s that easy! Gardens that are nominated will receive a package that includes a Kitchener in Bloom recognition sign to display in their garden. Nominations will be accepted through Sept. 15.
As people prepare for long-weekend planting, Kitchener in Bloom presents a virtual gardening lesson, Getting started with your garden. Discover tips on starting your seeds indoors, planting your seedlings, and the many types of gardens (flower, container, herb, container, rain). A master gardener and horticulturalist answer questions about getting your garden ready for the spring.
Visit www.kitchener.ca/bloom for more information or to nominate a garden.
