Looking for breakout space to stay active and enjoy some quality time with friends and family? Or maybe you’re looking for space for your book club to meet, or to host a community meeting to plan your next neighbourhood project. Whether it’s gym space or a multi-purpose room you’re after, the City of Kitchener is offering free bookable space so you can make the most of the amenities at your neighbourhood community centre.

This fall, the City is launching Book Free Space, a program that offers free gym time, or free multi-purpose room space at City community centres. Building on the success of its Book your Bubble program, which saw over 1,000 bookings logged this past year, Book Free Space will offer residents plenty of opportunities to enjoy a breakout space with more than just their household bubble to make connections and participate in activities they enjoy most.

Previously known as Book your Bubble, book a gym, offers residents the opportunity to reserve up to 45 minutes of gym time at select community centres for free to enjoy physical activity with up to 10 participants. Whether you’re looking to play, run, dance, or stretch, space is available at your nearest community centre to get creative, stay active, and have fun. Gym bookings can be made online or by calling your closest community centre, and up to 7 days in advance.

Residents can also  book multi-purpose rooms at City community centres during business hours, for free, for up to two hours to host a meeting or enjoy a group hobby or activity. Multi-purpose room bookings can be made online, or by calling the centre and up to 30 days in advance.

Bookings must be made by someone 18 years or older and at least one adult must be present for groups under 16 years of age. Participants must bring their own equipment and water when using the gym, and for those using centre multi-purpose rooms, tables and chairs can be provided upon request.

Safety measures, such as pre-screening, sanitization and proof of vaccination requirements are in place to protect visitors. Residents can find more information and reserve a time slot at www.kitchener.ca/bookfreespace.
