Kitchener Council approves one-year agreement between the City and CUPE Local 791

On Monday, September 14, Kitchener Council approved a one-year Collective Agreement between the City and the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Local 791. The deal was ratified by union members at a virtual meeting held on September 3, 2020.

The agreement runs April 1, 2020 - March 31, 2021, and covers 357 full-time office, clerical and technical staff who provide business functions including program and service delivery, bylaw enforcement, engineering services, building services, planning, and development services.

The agreement takes effect immediately and includes a salary increase of 1.6 per cent for the duration of the one year-agreement, with no benefit enhancements. The previous contract expired March 31, 2020.
