Join the Every Child Matters Crosswalk committee, members of Kitchener Council, representatives from the Orange Shirt Society, community members and other regional delegates for the official unveiling of the Every Child Matters crosswalk in Victoria Park (Water St. at Jubilee Dr.) this Friday, Sept. 16 beginning at 12/noon.
The Every Child Matters Crosswalk Committee is a resident and Indigenous-led community group who recently placed 6,321 footprints on the paths along Victoria Park. These footprints will lead to a new tribute crosswalk endorsed by Orange Shirt Society and supported by the City of Kitchener’s LoveMyHood initiative. This resident-led crosswalk in Victoria Park will be the first official Orange Shirt Society-endorsed, Every Child Matters crosswalk in Canada.
Those attending the unveiling are encouraged to wear orange shirts. Residents can also follow the Honorary Crosswalk Every Child Matters Kitchener Facebook page to follow this group's journey.
