The City of Kitchener is looking for proposals that will bring a strong vision to the future of Victoria Park’s Boathouse.

Today, the City released a request for proposal (RFP) that asks applicants to propose their future vision for the facility. This could include food/restaurant services, live music, entertainment and more.

“It’s been a long time coming due to the pandemic, but today is the first step in bringing back The Boathouse for the residents of our community,” said Kitchener Mayor Berry Vrbanovic. “This beloved venue in the heart of Victoria Park has enormous potential as a favourite gathering spot for Kitchener residents and visitors from throughout Waterloo region and beyond. We are looking forward to receiving some great proposals from interested operators to take over this unique space, ideally with a mix of food/restaurant services and live music and entertainment.”

The Boathouse RFP was put on pause during the pandemic due to the challenges faced by the restaurant, hospitality, and entertainment industries across the globe. The previous operator used the space as a restaurant featuring live music.

“The City has made significant investments in this building and we are looking forward to watching it come alive once again,” said Ward 9 Councillor Debbie Chapman. “As a valued part of downtown and feature of Victoria Park, I’m excited to see what a new operator will bring to the space and offer for residents in Kitchener, Waterloo Region and beyond.”
