The City of Kitchener, in collaboration with Centre In The Square, Walkinshaw Holdings Inc., the future operators of The Boathouse and The Registry Theatre, with support from Catalyst Commons and Waterloo Brewing, is hosting a Musician Development Forum on Jan. 26, 2023. The forum is geared towards independent local musicians who want to develop their music businesses and learn about the changes that have taken place in the music industry and how to navigate them.

Join us for a night of networking and learning from acclaimed music industry leaders and innovators. The forum will feature speakers who support Canadian talent to build enduring careers and will share their experiences on making it in today's evolving music industry.

Listen to industry leaders, Joanne Setterington, Steve Waxman, Michael Perlmutter as they are interviewed by CBC Kitchener-Waterloo’s Craig Norris. The event will include opportunities for local musicians to network with the speakers and other musicians in the community.

Attendee will have the opportunity to hear the industry experts as they discuss how to:

  • build and nurture a dedicated fan base,

  • place their music in film, commercials and television,

  • manage their career, and

  • market themselves and their music.

Musicians and the music industry have faced tremendous challenges, particularly during the past two years. The City’s Film and Music Office is continuing to work with local musicians to nurture and grow the sector locally.

This event will take place on Jan. 26, 2023, from 6 - 10 p.m. at the Catalyst Commons, Suite 210, 137 Glasgow Street, Kitchener. Food and a cash bar will be available. For tickets, visit Musician Development Forum.
