City of Kitchener facilities and buildings will have modified hours for the holidays.  


Kitchener city hall offices will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 12/noon on Thursday, Dec. 24 and closed on Friday, Dec. 25. Per the Province of Ontario’s provincewide shutdown beginning Sat., Dec. 26 at 12:01 a.m., city hall will be closed to the public. Select city services will be available by appointment only.  

City hall will reopen for select appointments on Dec. 29 from 9 a.m.- 4 p.m., Dec. 31 from 8:30 a.m. - 12/noon and closed on Friday, Jan. 1 for New Year’s Day, reopening again on Jan. 4 at 9 a.m.

The Kitchener Market will be open for a special winter farmers' market on Dec. 23 from 7 a.m. - 2 p.m., then closed from Tuesday, Dec. 24 to Saturday, Jan. 2. Food hall vendors will be open for takeout only on Dec 23, and then closed until further notice.   

As an essential service, beginning Saturday, Jan. 2 the lower market hall and produce area at the Kitchener Market will remain open on Saturdays from 7 am. - 2p.m. The food hall will be closed from Saturday, Jan. 2  until further notice.


The Aud and community arenas and the Lyle S. Hallman Foundation indoor track at Activa Sportsplex are closed Dec. 24, 25. On Dec. 24, Activa will be open until noon for scheduled rentals. 

All indoor pools are closed Dec. 24 and 25. 

Budd Park will be closed for the remainder of Dec. and on Jan. 1.  

All community centres will be open until noon on Dec. 24 and closed on Dec. 25. 

Beginning Dec 26 at 12:01 a.m., per provincial direction, all city facilities including Kitchener City Hall, community centres, pools, and arenas will be closed to the public (with some exceptions for essential social and mental health services such as food distribution programs, warming centres, etc.). 


All Kitchener Public Library locations will close to the public at 1 p.m. on Dec. 24 and will reopen for curbside pick-up only beginning on Dec. 29.
