Tree watering

This week's watering requirement is normal. Tree stewards should fill the watering bag on their boulevard trees once.

Tree Watering Update

Posted: Sept. 3, 2019 at 11:45 a.m.

Watering newly planted trees weekly from spring to fall is the best thing you can do to ensure they grow and survive.

Help us grow our street trees into healthy, mature trees by watering a newly planted tree near your home each week - and encourage your neighbours to do the same for the new trees near them.

New trees are easy to spot; there's a green water bag at the base.

The cost to water new trees is minimal - only about $10 worth of water per year, and about five to 10 minutes of your time each week.

If you're interested is becoming one of our tree stewards, let us know. We'll keep you informed on local conditions and how much water our new trees require each week depending on weather.

We are looking at expanding our program in future years so that whole neighbourhoods can participate in the stewardship of the urban forest.
