Love my hood

Suburbs

Great cities are made up of great neighbourhoods - people working together to make our community a safe, thriving and welcoming place we're proud to call home. Be a part of the movement. Improve a public place, plan an event or take advantage of the programs, opportunities and resources available to you.

#lovemyhood - Neighbourhood Strategy

Residents take the lead. The city supports them along the way. That's the vision driving Love My Hood, which provides more support, easy-to-use tools and funding opportunities on things like community gardens, traffic calming, street parties and more. Find out how the city can help you make your neighbourhood even better.

Community gardens

Resident-led traffic calming

Do you want to slow traffic, bring awareness to pedestrian safety issues or add beauty to a neighbourhood? Here are a few creative ways:

  • Painted crosswalks
  • Roadway painting, like intersection murals
  • Planter boxes on the boulevard
  • Neighbourhood lawn signs
  • Temporary or "pop-up" measures
  • Alternative uses of parking spaces

To get started, read the Easy Steps Guide for Resident-led Traffic Calming.
