To ensure all of the new Canadians who live in Kitchener have equal opportunities to participate in our community, without facing barriers, we offer and support a number of English as a second language (ESL) courses.

The Waterloo Catholic District School Board also offers ESL programs for adults, providing speakers of other languages with a foundation in speaking, listening, reading and writing skills. Morning, afternoon and evening classes are available to suit everyone's schedules.

English at First is a government funded program that offers English Language Instruction to Newcomers to Canada (the LINC program). Childcare is also available.

Conestoga College also offers programs for new Canadians. Visit their website for details.

Depending on the interest from the neighbourhood and neighbourhood association, ESL courses may be offered through our community centres. Please check Active Kitchener or call the centre nearest you.
