Select community centres set to open

Select community centres are set to reopen for limited use by the end of June to provide food distribution programs, cooling centre locations and summer camps. Read more.

Parks, trails, Kitchener Golf, Kitchener Market Saturday Farmers' Market and most outdoor facilities are open. Learn more about what's open and closed.

The majority of city-run facilities, playgrounds, splash pads and pools currently remain closed.

Doon Pioneer Park Community Centre (DPPCC/PP branch KPL), located at 150 Pioneer Dr., in the southwest corner of our city, offers a wide variety of programs and activities to suit the ages and interests of the surrounding community.

For a listing of DPPCA programs, please visit the Community Association's website to access their current newsletter or you can also follow them on Facebook.  Please note that the DPPCA has made changes to the delivery of the newsletter.  Beginning in the Fall of 2019, they are no longer being delivered to area homes.  For now, you can find printed copies at the Centre and in the Library and as listed above, the DPPCA website and Facebook pages.  Active Kitchener will still be delivered to area homes and the DPPCA programs will be advertised in this City of Kitchener's publication.

Neighbourhood Association Refund Policy - effective Sept. 2018.

Weather cancellations - If local schools are closed because of weather conditions, all DPPCA programs are automatically cancelled. Please listen to 570 Extreme Weather Centre when in doubt. Be advised that make-up classes will be arranged if possible but refunds will not be given.

Doon Pioneer Park Community Association volunteer opportunities

Are you looking for an opportunity to gain employable skills and put your knowledge and experience to work? The DPPCA is looking for volunteers in the following areas:

  • Special events team
  • General Volunteers - assisting in children/youth recreational programming (specific to a student looking for community service hours)

Amenities and services

Our newly expanded centre offers a new spacious gymnasium, multiple meeting spaces and open common areas. Our new splashpad will be available for use this spring.

Outreach Services - we can help!

DPPCC has an Outreach worker available by appointment, please connect by calling 519-742-8327 x 250.  Assisting children and families to access services you need within your own neighbourhood.

Important dates
  • DPPCA Fall 2020 program registration, online or in person begins Aug. 18 at 8:30am. This date includes other Neighbourhood Association programming and City of Kitchener direct programs as well.
  • Registration for Summer Camps, if available begins June 2.
