Volunteer with us

Our Volunteers help to shape Kitchener into a more vibrant, engaged and enriched city, by helping us deliver programs and services, and create memorable events.  Sharing their voices, passions and helping to turn a group of single houses into a connected neighbourhood.

Together, we will work together to achieve our common goals and help build an even better place to live, work and play.

 Why volunteer here?

As a potential volunteer there are a lot of options in our community on how you can share your skills and talents and give back to our community. Here are our top 4 reasons to consider volunteering with us:
Our volunteer opportunities
We believe there is no one way to volunteer.  We will listen to your "why" and "how" you want to volunteer and try to  help you discover a volunteer role that best matches them.
The people
Passionate, dedicated and committed. These three words - and so many more - are often used to describe our volunteers who work together with staff to put our community first to reach our common goals.
Flexible schedules
Although we do offer more traditional volunteer roles with a set commitment schedule; we also offer opportunities that have a flexible schedule that can work with your schedule.
Our culture of meaningful volunteer engagement
The City of Kitchener is committed to fostering a culture of positive and meaningful volunteer engagement. We provide responsive and innovative volunteer engagement solutions tailored to the specific needs and goals of engaged citizens.
 Information for parents

We understand that this may be the first time your child is volunteering, and knowing how to get started may be overwhelming for them. We hope that by volunteering they will gain self-confidence, and leadership skills, which is why it is important that they must personally take the initiative to contact us about volunteering with the City of Kitchener.

When your child reaches out directly to us, they are taking an important first step towards building a relationship with their volunteer supervisor.
