Kitchener Youth Action Council

Suburbs

If you're between age 14 and 24 and tired of doing things the same old way - consider joining the Kitchener Youth Action Council (KYAC) and help make a positive difference for everyone in our community.

This inspiring group of young people aims to make Kitchener a better place by working with adults who support their ideas and actions. Examples include:

  • Planning and running events in support of the issues KYAC members care about (e.g. coffee houses, Youth Awards)
  • Sharing opinions with the city and other community organizations to help ensure young people are considered when important decisions are made.
  • Sharing their ideas and views by speaking at city council meetings and community events.
  • Supporting other youth-focused groups and organizations in our community.
  • Helping to promote great initiatives that are happening in our community.

How to join KYAC

Becoming a KYAC member is easy - simply attend one of the group's meetings, which run Thursdays, 6 to 7:30 p.m., from the end of September until mid-June, at the Downtown Community Centre - Youth Room.

By joining KYAC, you will have the chance to:

  • Meet new people
  • Share your ideas
  • Support your community
  • Build your resume
  • Earn volunteer hours
  • Get a great reference (if you earn it)
  • Have fun!
