What this means for City of Kitchener programs and services

City facilities

  • City Hall is closed. Wedding and burial permit services only for pick-up and drop off.
  • Community centres are closed, and all recreation programs are cancelled. Some community centres will remain open with public health measures in place for select services such as essential food distribution programs, warming and cooling centres, etc.
  • Kitchener Cemeteries: Funeral services reduced to a 10 person capacity indoors and graveside, with public health measures in place.
  • Kitchener Market is open at reduced capacity for essential groceries with public health measures in place. The upper food hall is available for take-out orders but no indoor or outdoor seating available.
  • Williamsburg Chapel will be open and permit a 10 person capacity for wedding services.
  • All indoor and outdoor programs, services and rentals cancelled with the exception of food distribution, mental health and addiction supports, faith-based services at a 10 person capacity, and public access computers.
  • Public access to computers will remain available at some community centres by appointment only with public health measures in place.

Outdoor recreational amenities

  • Indoor wedding ceremonies at Victoria Park Pavilion will be capped at 50 people, and wedding receptions will be capped at 50 people indoors. Ceremonies and receptions are subject to public health restrictions.
  • Kitchener indoor sports facilities open with public health measures in place with a facility capacity of 50 people. Sports practiced or played must be modified to avoid contact between players.

Kitchener City Council and committee meetings will be available virtually. All non-statutory community meetings (e.g. information meetings related to development applications, planning information centres, etc.) will be held virtually for the foreseeable future.
