Ward 10

Headshot of Councillor Marsh

In Office: 2014 - present

Kitchener-Waterloo has been Sarah's home since the age of three when her parents moved her family here to raise them in this friendly, growing community. After studying in Montreal and travelling extensively as a young adult, she returned to her home town to set down roots. Sarah is a proud mom to three active boys. She and her husband Stephen McDonald have lived in their downtown Ward 10 home since 2001.

Sarah is a social researcher with a Masters degree in community development. She has been conducting community based research since 2007, and has demonstrated her commitment to build a more inclusive, creative, active community through her civic involvement. In particular, she has worked on a local initiative to seek better financial services and products for people living on a low income in our community.

In her eight years as an active member of the Compass Kitchener Citizen Advisory Committee, she was instrumental in implementing the Report Card to Citizens, which monitors progress toward the city's 20 year vision: A Plan for a Healthy Kitchener. Sarah's role on this committee provided her with significant insight into the city's services and programs.

Sarah is passionate about our Kitchener community, including its' unique blend of urban elements combined with the character of a small town. She looks forward to working closely with her fellow councillors, staff, and community members as our city grows stronger together.
