Woolwich emergency siren

Our community is a relatively safe place to live, but a serious incident affecting health and safety can happen anywhere, at any time so it is important to be prepared.

The Township of Woolwich is located in the Waterloo Region. As part of the town's emergency preparedness program, in partnership with the Community Awareness & Emergency Response (CARE) group an emergency siren in Breslau was installed. The siren may sound during the event of severe weather, gas leaks, transportation accidents and chemical spills.

Testing of the emergency siren happens routinely every Monday evening at 7 p.m. and will be heard as one short blast.

Kitchener residents and businesses that live close by are encouraged to register for the Township of Woolwich's Community Alert Network AlertWR Notification System to stay informed of emergencies related to the Woolwich emergency siren.

During an emergency, the AlertWR system contacts all who are registered in the affected area with information and guidance. The message will deliver specific instructions on what the problem is and what you should do to stay safe.

Register contact method(s) online or call 519-575-4400.
