Strategic Plan for the Environment

Suburbs

For years, you've reminded us time and time again that the environment should be at the forefront of every decision we make for our city. We've heard you loud and clear - and we're proud to say that Kitchener is considered a municipal leader in environmental planning and stewardship across the country.

We've made it our mission to ensure our environment is ecologically sound and supportive of the health, safety and well-being of our residents. This is done by identifying and implementing strict policies and practices that reflect your values and positively affect our local environment.

Our Strategic Plan for the Environment sets us up to achieve these goals. This living document guides the development of our current and future environmental initiatives, identifies priorities for action, and supports us in achieving one of the key priorities that make up our strategic plan: the environment.

The plan is a living document that guides the development of our current and future environmental initiatives, and identifies priorities for action in seven functional areas. Implementation has been ongoing since 1992. Where are we today?
