Residential sewer backups

A sewer back-up is a release or back-up of sanitary sewage into a house through the lowest point in the sanitary plumbing (i.e. floor drains, bottom floor toilets or sinks). Objects that can block your sewer line can be diapers, too much toilet paper, feminine hygiene products, paper towels, toys, motor oils, cooking grease, etc.

If you experience a sewer back-up, please contact the City of Kitchener operations division. Sewer staff can be dispatched to your home to assist in clearing the blockage.

Please call 519-741-2345 for additional information on fees, hours of operation, etc.
