Every year, the City of Kitchener supports many deserving individuals and groups, in need of financial assistance to accomplish good work in our community, through our various grant programs:

Community Development Infrastructure Program (CDIP)
The City of Kitchener is always working towards developing neighbourhood cohesion and stability. We offer the CDIP grant program to provide funds to neighbourhood associations and communities of interest to take action to address issues they have identified in their community.

Community grants

The City of Kitchener recognizes the importance of working with not-for-profit groups and community organizations, which is why we offer community grant opportunities to organizations and groups that provide services in the areas of arts and culture/special events, community support and development, and minor sports and recreation.

Sports grants are offered to affiliated minor sports groups who provide programming to youth 18 years of age and under.

Applications for 2021 will open in the Fall of 2020.

Community environmental improvement

The City of Kitchener strongly supports environmental stewardship and the development of community based environmental projects. We offer Community Environmental Improvement Grants in order to assist organizations, associations or groups working towards building a cleaner, healthier more environmentally sustainable Kitchener.

Heritage grants

Kitchener has a special history and our heritage is greatly valued. We offer a heritage property grant program that assists designated property owners with the conservation of our cultural heritage resources.

In-kind facility grants
The City of Kitchener offers in-kind facility grant opportunities to not-for-profit groups and organizations providing a specific event to the general public in the areas of arts and culture/special events, community support and development, and minor sports and recreation.

If your event falls under one of these categories, and you would like to hold it at one of our municipal facilities, you may qualify. In-kind facility grants are only intended for one time special events. Requests for grants to cover the cost of facility rentals for meetings, programming or fundraising purposes do not qualify for a grant.

Love My Hood Matching Grant

Residents take the lead, and the City supports them along the way. That’s the vision behind Love My Hood, Kitchener’s approach to making great neighbourhoods.

The City of Kitchener’s new LoveMyHood Matching Grant will continue to support new resident-led projects and neighbourhood in initiatives across the city. 

Through this grant, groups can request up to $30,000 and apply at any time of year. Learn More.

Safe and Healthy Community Advisory Committee Inclusion and Belonging Neighbourhood Grant
The Safe and Healthy Community Advisory Committee will make one year cash grants for one time projects, initiatives or events that support inclusion and/or belonging within Kitchener neighbourhoods.

 Travel assistance grant
Our travel assistance grant program is offered to Kitchener youth - 18 years of age or under - who are involved in non-profit minor sports or cultural activities and have qualified to compete in sport championships/cultural events outside our city.

These grants are intended to assist with the cost of travel to and from the event location only, where round-trip travel exceeds 500 kilometres.
