Class and group tours


If your group or classroom would like to learn more about municipal government we host four information sessions that include a tour of city hall each year.

2019 information sessions/tour dates for children (Grade 5 level content): 

  • Thursday, May 30, 9:30 a.m. (reserve by: May 16) 
  • Wednesday, Nov. 6, 10 a.m. (reserve by: October 23) 

2019 information sessions/tour dates for teens, young adults, and adults: 

  • Thursday, June 6, 9:30 a.m. (reserve by: May 23) 
  • Wednesday, Nov.13, 10 a.m. (reserve by: October 30)

Each information session/tour lasts approximately one hour. Space is limited and advanced registration is required. 

Information sessions cover:

  • The role of municipal government and how it impacts citizens' daily lives;
  • The roles and responsibilities of council, staff, and citizens;
  • How decisions are made;
  • Suggestions regarding how citizens can get involved and have their ideas heard, and
  • A question and answer session with a member of Kitchener City Council (if available).

Subject to room availability, tours include a visit to:

  • Council Chambers
  • The Rotunda
  • Carl Zehr Square
  • The Heritage Room
  • The 10th floor

If your group cannot attend one of the scheduled sessions you are always welcome to take a self-guided tour of City Hall anytime during operating hours.
